When is the NC Plumbing Exam given?

The North Carolina Plumbing Exams are given Monday – Saturday at PSI Testing Centers across the State. The exams are computerized and are open book. Why should I purchase the reference books?

The testing center no longer furnishes books for the exam. And since the exam is open-book, you’ll need to carry a set of your own books with you. You’ll also need all the reference books to study with and to have when you become a licensed plumbing contractor.

How long does it take to get Exam Approval?

Allow 4 weeks. It’s usually much faster, but if you send in your application at certain times of the year – say the end of December when all contractors are trying to renew – the Board will be very busy and may need extra time.
